Carpet Cleaning For Lacey The small settlements of Woodland and Chamber's Creek consolidated into Lacey in the 1950s. Lacey was officially incorporated on December 5, 1966. At the time, the main industries were cattle, milk, forest products, and retail. Lacey became a "bedroom" community for Olympia and to some extent Tacoma. The city is perceived as a slower paced community with its best characteristics being in close proximity to many lakes and forests as well as being close to the beautiful Nisqually Valley. Many of the surrounding lakes sported hotels for vacationers, during the height of travel via train. Lacey sported one of the Northwest's first ever "indoor malls," South Sound Center. It has since been partially demolished and turned into an outdoor shopping center. When the Lacey Plywood Mill shut down, Lacey took on the challenges of being a place to invest in. Lacey now flourishes with retail, warehousing/distribution centers, a large retirement community, a major mushroom farm, and Weyerhaeuser's corrugated container facility. Lacey is also experiencing a building boom mostly on its northern border. The area around Hawks Prairie has exploded with commercial and residential building. This is also the site of a planned "commercial" core and high-rise district. The "Gateway Project" started in October 2007, when the major Sports & Outdoor store Cabela's was built in the Hawks Prairie District. Soon, many other high rise buildings will be built around Cabela's and Lacey may have a big population boom that would make it one of the largest cities in all of Washington. The Gateway Project will create a downtown for Lacey, complete with three residential towers, that will give Lacey a skyline. The Gateway Project is being built along I-5 Southbound. The residential towers will sport panoramic views of the city below, Mt. Rainier to the east, and the green plains of the Nisqually Reservation to the north. In addition, another library will be built, a state-of-the- art performing arts center, a brand new fire station, a large fitness center as well. 7,000 housing units will be built when the project is completed in 2020. This would increase the population of Lacey by around 20,000 people, making it the largest city in the puget sound area. Also, several plazas, strip malls, and commercial buildings will be constructed in this region. Furtehrmore, Lacey will have it's own Farmer's Market established in this district. Triway Enterprises, who founded this project, isn't sure how tall the towers will be. Anywhere from 10-20 stories seems to be what the size of these towers will end up being. Without a doubt, this project will skyrocket Lacey from a quiet, suburban town, to a thriving, young, and quickly expanding city in the heart of Western Washington. NFL Washington Redskins Fullback Mike Sellers plans to build a Multi-Sport/Event Center, or a Football Dome in Hawks Prarie, which would attract National competitions, (i.e, football, baseball tournaments, concerts, other various events.) As Lacey continues to grow, many businesses continue to feed into the city. Lacey now offers a Regal 16 Movie Theatre, which is one of the largest theatres in all of Washington. Other businesses that have come into Lacey, include a brand new L.A. Fitness, Best Buy, Costco, The Home Depot, Lowe's, and many strip malls and market squares. Laser Fun Zone is the center for entertainment in Lacey. With one of the largest laser tag arenas, (over 4,000 square feet) in all of Washington, this is a brand new business in Lacey, which became the first family fun center in the city of Lacey. Laser Fun Zone is the newest of these businesses, and is providing a great place for family and friends to go hang out. With about 30 arcade machines, Laser Fun Zone is definetely the first of it's kind to come to Thurston County. Lacey is
also in the top 7 most "Green" cities in all of America. And
has been noticed by the nation as an Energy Efficient City. Lacey is
also nicknamed, Tree City, USA. Hundreds of thousands of trees line
the streets of Lacey, and with various lakes and parks, Lacey is the
one of the most beautiful cities in all of America. |
